Participation in this training will give family law professionals (including mental health providers, lawyers, judges, mediators, and other professionals helping families) an overview of the risks and potential benefits to children when one parent wants to relocate with their children after divorce.
Implications for child development, impact on the relationship between the child and the distant parent, and assessment procedures to predict and mitigate harm will be addressed.
Integrating social science, social policy, and the law, “best interests” vs. the least detrimental alternative and parenting plan particulars will aid parents, legal representatives, and the court when they are tasked with making very difficult decisions.
